Plug stuck? How to release the connector

Don't force it — your car's charging port locks the cable during a session for safety. Pulling hard can damage the port.

1. Confirm charging has stopped

Check both the JOLT app (shows "Completed") and your car's screen. If it's still active, stop it by:

  • Ending the session in the JOLT app, or
  • Ending it from your car's screen, or
  • Pressing the silver 'Push to Stop' button on the charger

If you have tried all of the above and still cannot stop your charge, please contact our emergency support line, found by navigating to Help and Support in the JOLT app.

2. Try your car's release

  • Press Unlock on your key fob 3–5 times quickly, or
  • Look for an "Unlock Port" option in your car's charging menu

3. Use your car's manual release

Most EVs have a manual cable release inside the car — check your owner's manual, as the location varies by model.

Still stuck?

Call our emergency support line (in the app under Help & Support — we'll remotely reset the station to release our side of the lock. If your car still won't let go after that, the lock issue is on the vehicle's side, and your dealership can help.
